Dr.
Joseph D. Pilloud,
a chiropractor with extensive training in a chiropractic specialty
called
applied kinesiology, opened his practice on the Central Coast on June 10 1989
in
the Pacific Coast Plaza.
In
its broadest sense, applied kinesiology is a technique for diagnosing problems
with the muscles,
nerves,
organs, lymph flow, blood flow and cerebral spinal fluid circulation.
Developed
in the 1960s by chiropractor George Goodheart, this technique evaluates an
individual's structural, chemical and mental health through a form of muscle
testing. Practitioners use a variety of therapeutic techniques including
nutritional counseling, manipulation, acupressure, and exercise. In addition to
applied kinesiology, Dr. Pilloud has had post graduate training in nutrition,
sports injuries, personal injuries, as well as extremity adjusting, advanced
acupressure techniques and meridian therapy.
Dr.
Pilloud, originally from the Los Angeles area moved to the Central Coast and
attended local colleges for his undergraduate studies. He received his
professional schooling at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa,
where he was employed as a supervisor in the Palmer College Clinic and graded
and taught chiropractic students. After leaving Iowa, Dr. Pilloud began private
practice in Reno, Nevada for two and a half years.
The
current location, 881 Oak Park Blvd. in Pismo Beach has been serving the central
coast since 1989.
Dr.
Pilloud has been a professional musician and published writer for the last 40
years and can be seen occasionally on local TV as well as some of the local and
state wide concert venues with Big Daddy’s Blues Band.
Dr. Pilloud is currently a member of the California Chiropractic Association and is a diplomat of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He has served proudly as president and vice president of the local CCA
